Sewing Group

 The classes are comprise two groups women of different nationalities. The women have little or no sewing experience, but after a few weeks they were able to thread their machines and identify pattern components. The women were very enthusiastic in wanting to learn how to sew and use sewing machine, but most of all they want to learn how to alter a pattern to make garments that fit them. The group has grown steadily, and we now have a waiting list of people wanting to learn how to sew. 

 The course has catered for women who are at home and who want to learn how to sew, as well as providing opportunities for socializing with other women with similar interests. Many of the women are mothers with young children who want to learn how to sew for themselves and their family,

 Over the year the women have learned to:

	Thread up a sewing machine;
	Identify and adjust the machine dials for sewing different fabrics;
	Make samples and produce a sample book;
	Make a slouch bag;
	Take body measurements;
	Read a pattern envelope;
	Lay pattern pieces on the material;
	Sew components together, and;
	Fit the garment.
